Overcoming Anxiety

The Four Sessions

You already know what it feels like — the racing thoughts, the tight chest, the voice that insists something is about to go wrong. If you’ve been searching for ways to overcome anxiety, you’re not alone. Most people who struggle with anxious thoughts have tried to think their way out of them, white-knuckle through them, or simply wait for them to pass. Maybe you’ve wondered if calm is even possible for someone whose mind moves the way yours does.

It is. And I’m going to show you how.

The Overcoming Anxiety Program is a four-session framework built around one simple truth: anxiety isn’t a malfunction, and it isn’t the enemy. It’s an old alarm system doing an outdated job — and once you understand how it operates, you can learn to overcome anxiety by responding to it with skill instead of getting swept up in it.

Each session is thirty minutes. Every one of them builds on the last.

Fear & Anxiety as a Bully

Fear doesn't need to be right — it just needs you to believe it. This opening session helps you recognize anxiety's playbook: exaggeration, repetition, isolation, and speed. You'll learn to spot fear's favorite disguises — the worst-case spiral, the false deadline, the comparison trap — and see them for what they are instead of mistaking them for wisdom. In this session, you'll give the bully a voice, so you can finally talk back to it. Because you can't out-argue what you haven't named. In this session, you'll learn how to look at yourself with the same gentle curiosity you'd offer a close friend. Because you cannot find your way forward from a place you're unwilling to name.

Managing Fight, Flight, and Freeze

Anxiety doesn't show up the same way for everyone. For some it's fight — tension, irritability, a need to control. For others it's flight — racing thoughts, restlessness, a pull to escape. And for others, it's freeze — going blank, shutting down, wanting to disappear. This session helps you recognize your own pattern, or patterns, and gives you a specific, body-first tool for each one. You'll practice catching the response early, in real time, rather than realizing what happened only after it's over.

What Is Anxiety — and How ACT Can Help

Anxiety isn't something to eliminate — it's something to change your relationship with. This session introduces four shifts drawn from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: acceptance, defusion, values, and committed action. You'll practice creating distance from anxious thoughts with a simple reframe — noticing "I'm having the thought that…" rather than treating the thought as fact. And you'll get clear on what actually matters to you underneath the anxiety, so you can start moving toward it — anxiety included.

Managing Anxious Thoughts

Anxious thoughts feel like facts. They're really predictions — your mind guessing at what might go wrong. This closing session gives you two tools to help you overcome anxiety, depending on what kind of thought you're facing. For thoughts that are specific and checkable, you'll learn Catch, Check, Change — weighing the evidence for and against, then landing on something more balanced. For thoughts that are vague, recurring, or won't resolve no matter how many times you examine them, you'll learn Naming the Thought — a simple defusion practice that creates space without requiring you to solve anything.

This Program Is For You If...

You feel like anxiety is running the show and you’re ready to take some of that power back. Or you simply know that a calmer, clearer version of your life is possible — and you’re ready to build it.
